Why does tv put on the best films so late at night?!

I know all the films i would like to watch are always on too late.
Yeah it's not good but I guess they're on for people coming back from the pub, well, the ones that are still semi-conscious anyway.
they do it to tempt me to stay up later than i want to, and it usually works lol

because they are probably deemed innappropriate for kids. some nut job parent at some point in time said that tv shouldnt be watched by kids. even though she had the total option of turning it off, but instead the lazy parent wanted tv to babysit for her, so they didnt want the kids watching bad tv.

People like seeing movies at night time. I think even closing the blinds in the day doesnt stop the light getting in.
Or perhaps more people are home at night, so more viewers... In the day/afternoon not ALL people are at home and free for 1.5/2 hours to watch a movie. So perhaps that would be a reason
It's happening a lot lately, but you'll find it's repeated later on the week at a more suitable time. I guess it's just to fill the schedules. Also, a lot of people are now able to save programmes/films easily and so they can watch it whenever suits.
Some of the answers above especially those deemed to be less appropriate for kids is one of the reasons that some of the shows is featured late at night.
Other possibilities could be of the low popularity or that the show is a rerun.
