Why does your country only want our violent films? We have plenty of nice films that your country obviously doesn't want to watch.

EDIT:
It's the same for us, it's the controllers of the media that want to produce violent films. Personally, I enjoy some violent films, but it's not all we have here in the states. Some of the films out right now that are non-violent are 27 Dresses, Bucket List, Juno, and I'm sure there's more. Some TV shows we have that are non-violent are Malcolm in the Middle, the Office, that George Lopez show, Everybody Loves Raymond, King of Queens, Friends, Frasier, and I could go on and on with a list of non-violent shows we play in America.

I understand that it may appear as if all we have to offer are violent shows because, yes, we Americans seem to like the violent shows. But I hope you see there is much more in our media than violence.

Anyway, I never answered on my views of violent films. That is, kids and teens should not be allowed to watch them, and if I were a parent, my kids would hate me for not being up to date like all their class mates. I also think that for a lot of people, violent images are numbing our value and appreciation of life. However, in the media, the thing that disgusts me most are not violent films, but shows that make people laugh at other people's expense.

Violent films, people will watch it, and it may desensitize them a bit, but the majority understands that it's wrong. Schadenfreude type shows, it really saddens me that the world can laugh about and/or rejoice in other people's real misery. What's wrong is that the majority thinks this type of behavior is OK, and I see it often in people of all walks of life.

It tends to glamorise violence ,,,and that is not a good thing,,,

Simple. If they really offend you, then don't watch them. Turn the TV off and do something else.

My view on this is that there are lots of other stations and you don't have to watch violence...i enjoy these sort of films i much prefer them to love stories but they don't make me violent or want to copy what i see

Yes I certainly agree, but the way things are shaping up in the UK, it would seem to me that the violence we see regularly on the TV screens from the USA,-is here on the streets in the UK in reality-

no not really, i quite enjoy watching this kind of thing.
and strangely enough i have never maimed or killed anyone....although traffic wardens have tempted me...
try watching repeats of Last of the summer wine?

***** I am American,,,and totally agree with you,,I have never seen TV out of this country so I don't know how it differs??? I do know that its sad when they can show a naked butt,,say all kinds of cuss words but if someone gives the ""FINGER" they edit it out>>>No wonder we have so much crime>>.Don't get me wrong<<I LOVE AMERICA,,,and wouldent trade any thing for my country,,,as I said I love America!!!
