From when the producers said there would be 48 more episodes (the end of last year) they anticipated that it would be 3 more seasons, each of 16 episodes. Now because of the strike, as you already know, there will only be 8 episodes in season 4, meaning that you are correct in believing that they will add the next 8 to seaon 5. So season 4 will be 8 episodes; season 5, 24 episodes; and season 6 will be 16 meaning another 48 episodes in total over the next 3 seasons. Hope that made sense! Can't wait - 2 weeks till it returns in Australia!!! :D

There is a contract in place for 48 more episodes, split 16 episodes across 3 seasons.
The first 8 episodes on Season 4 will air every Thursday beginning January 31st, and the remaining 8 episodes of Season 4 will either be aired later in the year, or will be combined with Season 5 to create a 24-episode season next year. Depends on how long the writers stay on strike for.
