edit: I'm not a housewife. I'm a teen. I don't watch the show but I'm frickin smart enough to know what a PhD degree is.

Actually, he does really help people.
And anyone can be called "Dr." if they get there Doctor's degree or whatever it's called.
He is a phsychologist.
He is a really smart man, and he used to have to do with the law somehow...
I thought he was an idiot too at first, but turns out the guy's a genious, Oprah wouldn't have given him a TV show if he wasn't talented.
Because he has a PHD in Pychology. Which means that he can be called a Dr.
He does help some. I've heard many stories where people have gotten better. But I'm sure some of it's just for TV
