I think the show is totally under rated in the UK, I hardly know anyone who watches it but then it was never really advertised well.
I don't really care for it. The moral of the story is always too obvious to be interesting.
My secon favorite show of all time next to Married With Children.
the old season one and two were good.

but generaly now its heaps smutty and looking for a cheap laugh.
If you like Stewie you're sure to like the alien on American Dad. Truly, both are the theater of the absurd. As for Family Guy, where else can we experience escapism with a gay baby, a besotted canine in love with his mastress and Quagmire, that beloved pervert all within the first 5 minutes of viewing. It's like going to the mall without leaving your living room.

Soooo Funny.
I like it. For me, what makes it stand out are the non sequiturs and 80s references peppered throughout every episode. One of my favorites is when the Kool-Aid Man smashes through the wall of a solemn court room, yells "Oh Yeah!", looks around, becomes self-aware and then slowly backs out. Oh and Peter's past job as a Ghostbuster.
i agree 100 percent with the answer from iliketochewongum. season 1 and 2 were great. now it is so raunchy, it is just not funny anymore. i tried.... believe me i tried, but i just cannot even watch 5 minutes of it anymore. but i gladly watch my season 1 and 2 dvd's.
