Why do American programmes show all the best bits at the beginning , it spoils t!

Question: Because they make their programmes too clinically. They try too hard to churn out and mass-produce programmes with the sole purpose of making money. I hate American shows. I feel exploited every time I watch them.

Compare this with the lovable brilliance of English shows like Some Mother's Do 'Ave 'Em. Expect the sets to wobble, expect it to be done on the cheap, and to look it! But the fact is that this amazing sitcom will always be much better than any US sitcom for the reason that we love it for what it is - it doesn't matter that it's done on the cheap. It doesn't matter that the script is awful. It's not important. What is important is that they didn't focus on clinical perfection. Instead they played to their strength, and the strength was Michael Crawford giving a virtuoso comedic performance! In Some Mother's Do 'Ave 'Em, Michael Crawford gives a master class in comedy. Spending $1,000,000 per episode and having a good script would have distracted us from the genius that has kept this show a national favourite since the 1970s.

That's where the Americans go wrong. They try too hard to draw you in and make you want to watch. They're in it for the money - the advertising revenue, and they draw the attention away from the strongest part of the show, which is quite often the talent of one individual that is able to make it a success. They don't share the love of the art, just the love of the money they're making from it.

As a result, who can compare Some Mother's Do 'Ave 'Em with it's poor script and wobbly sets, with Friends, or Scrubs, or any other high budget US sitcom? But it's not fair because they spent $1,000,000 an episode. But that doesn't make it better. Some Mother's Do 'Ave 'Em is a showcase of genius that was made with love, not with money. It could never be made in America. And this, sadly, is not the only example.

That's the problem with US TV.

I'm pretty sure the point of it is, to keep you watching, and involved...if it shows whats coming up..
And also, if you tune in, then it keeps you hooked.
Peace

short attention span

they never show the ending just incase you seen it i guess or for those tuning in for the first time

duno but its sooo annoying isnt it...also they keep showing the same damn previews throughout the show!

Yeah its annoying, then they do it again before the ads! I take it your watching Ramseys Kitchen Nightmares? :)

I don't know it could be good here - imagine Eastenders you could watch the first 5 seconds then to the rest of the cra.p off!
