Why don't people want to hear the truth about their talents like on American!

Question: A lot of those people suck. But its tough being friends with someone who can't sing. I have a guy friend like that and he ignores anyone who says he can't do it. Ok its good to be confident but not delusional and he doesn't have a backup plan.

I can see why these peoples friends lie to them because even if you try to give constructive criticism, well people get upset. I wish people would be more open. When I suggested college because I told him entertainment is competitive, he also brushed that off. Its like a catch-22.

Thankfully, he won't go on American Idol. He said once he wanted to but I told him he needed to prepare more. I really don't want him to get all embarrassed.

For every person that doesn't tell him he can't sing-it's only giving him the impression that he can. Then again he might think they are jealous. Yeah, it's hella hard to be brutally honest but sometimes it is the only way to get through. Just record him and play it back when he's lucid...or is he ever?
I'd like to believe alcohol plays a part in his false confidence. If not, maybe everybody listening to him should drink more!

the real question is why dont people tell them they have no talent long before they get on american idol?

Because some people who are that far gone have to zen in their own time.

liking to dance does not make one have the aptitude of the talent, people discover that too late, they cant tap on the right rythm, or cant swing gracefully, so they evade comments

Totally agree with you.

Why do these people feel the need to damage other peoples' ears with their insane cat screeching?

because their loved ones tell them that they're good and they believe them

they like the way they sing!
