At the pub, EJ begs Sami to take the kids far away from Stefano. He figures he knows his father and how he works and thinks he can stay one step ahead of him. Sami argues that she feels safer around her family and that Roman doesn’t think Claire's kidnapping has anything to do with Stefano. EJ doesn't think they should trust his father and tells her what happened at the dock between he and Stefano's driver. Stefano wants their son to be the next DiMera heir "Giovanni", and says this is why they need to leave! Sami doesn't trust EJ, she states, and there is nothing he can do about that. She trusts Roman to keep them safe. EJ argues that Roman's looking for Claire and Stefano's got men on the force. Sami reminds him she has his help too. EJ shakes his head in frustration.
Steve takes a shipment of beer to the bar for Caroline and jokes that this is why she let him marry her daughter. Roman and Bo are too busy to help at the moment, she says and her face falls in worry for Claire. Caroline thanks Steve for making Kayla so happy and Steve thanks her right back for taking a chance on him. Caroline calls him a diamond in the rough! Kayla comes to the bar to ask Steve for his body! Steve's ready to leave now but she tells him her ovulation chart has told her the peak time to ovulate. She says they have to be "in the zone" but Steve argues they're always in the zone! She says she'll call in a few hours. He asks what she's wearing under her dress and she giggles and hits him with her handbag, then leaves. Caroline returns and asks if she can make Steve lunch but he refuses. He has to be somewhere!!
Marlena leaves John's room at the hospital and flashes back to Belle seeing John for the first time. Bo and Hope arrive and Marlena tells them John visited Belle as per Roman's orders and Belle's doing better since. Bo nervously asks if John's back in restraints. Neither he nor Hope trust him. Marlena thinks John's starting to trust her.
Inside John's room, Roman tells John it was a nice act that he put on for Marlena and Belle. "Whatever you say," John replies but Roman tells John he too was held hostage by Stefano and tortured. He understands where he's coming from but doesn't trust him. He thinks John will do what Stefano bids of him. "Don't be so sure," John says after Roman leaves. He unlocks his cuffs with the scissors he stole. John flashes back to his confinement in Stefano's lab and tries to focus on his task. He has images going through his head from his torture and we see on the screen he was forced to watch that something was "Deleted"
Roman finds Hope, Bo and Marlena outside John's room and tells them he's focused on finding Claire. Marlena tells them John's fine, and he's safe. Hope says not to trust John, because of what Stefano did to him. Marlena thinks there is hope and knows John will fight Stefano's mind games and will return to them.
Kayla takes her temperature and calls Steve, quickly. She's ready!! He tells her he's still at the pub and will be a few hours. She argues that this is her window!! A knock at the door brings Steve with flowers! The two laugh at his joke and start kissing and removing their clothes. Caroline comes to the door and yells, "Kayla sweetie, it's mom!!" Both do up their shirts and let Caroline in. Caroline laughs that Steve left the pub so fast that he forgot his wallet. She gives them both clam chowder Shawn Sr. made and Kayla ushers her out the door rather rudely! They don't care - they just want to get back to love-making, but no sooner do they start kissing when Kayla's beeper sounds and she calls the hospital. She pawns her patient off on another doctor while Steve envelopes her with a hug, caresses and lingering kisses.
Sami gets to her door at home and EJ helps her in. He's upset that she insulted him and confesses to wanting to protect both babies. They go into the apartment and he calls her brave, smart and resourceful and doesn't want her to underestimate the danger. Both hear a noise and EJ whips out a gun while he motions for Sami to hide. He slowly opens the door and finds a gift wrapped box. He steps over it, checks the hall and opens the box and goes inside. Sami runs out of her room and he tells her Stefano sent a rattle for the baby. He thinks Stefano wants to rattle them! Sami admits she was worried. She doesn't want Johnny to lose his father! EJ calls Abe to help make arrangements to take them to a safe house. When he arrives, Sami is surprised and thankful for his help. Abe is not happy that EJ is going along but Sami hopes they don't need to worry that he's a DiMera. EJ reassures Abe he's not like Stefano but Abe warns him that the ISA is keeping an eye on him. "They're going to be crawling up your jockstrap." He warns.
At the hospital, John has cut through his binds and takes Marlena prisoner when she and Hope arrive. He forces Hope to close the door and threatens Marlena's life. Marlena tries to talk John out of hurting her and he starts to flashback to his torture and lets her go. The police come into the room waving guns as John collapses. He is bound again to the bed and begs them to let him go. Marlena asks why he needs to escape but John refuses to say. The doctor wants to shoot up John with a sedative and after some caution, Marlena gives the okay. She tells him he didn't hurt her because it's not possible for him to hurt her. "You love me and one day you'll remember," she says before John falls asleep.
Marlena leaves John's room and Hope tells Marlena that John can't be trusted. Roman and Bo agree and Marlena says she knows. It breaks her heart, she confesses. Meanwhile, in his room, John continues to flashback to seeing the images from when he was tortured.
