House prices in Weatherfield - Specifically Coronation St?!

Question: House prices in Weatherfield

Question Details: On Corrie, Jack and Vera, who were 'skint', {the latter now 6' under} had sold, subject to contract, their 2 up 2 down stone clad inner terrace on Coronation St.

Plus, they were £30k short as Paul had mortgaged their house.

Last week they showed an estate agent's brochure of a nice looking semi {or detached?} bungalow in Blackpool.

Now that would be £170k+

So, their Coronation St mid terrace must have been up for at least £200K . {Lucky to get £40k for similar properties in many Manchester satelite towns}.

If £200k was the case, they would have paid the Estate agents, wot, £3k, plus stamp duty, land registry and solicitor's fees. Let's say another £10k in total.

Something does not add up here?

Or, as Darwen, is near Weatherfield, has Vera done a John Darwin; as an insurance scam to pay for the Duckworth's new pad in Blackpool?

What a marvellously thought out question, have a star.

ITS NOT REAL......you worry to much.

I noticed that. Considering the programs not that much ahead of real timein the making the priced seemed really low. Wondered if it was worth looking at the houses there myself lol

It's a fictional house, in a fictional street, in a fictional town. What are you getting so worked up about?

I know i didnt see tyrone and girlf hiring a surveyor before they bought the dump off them either!!

No more than £100.000, unless of course you count it's celeb status, maybe that would double the price. !

Jack had the Blackpool bungalow details in his hand on Friday and the asking price was 87 thousand, good price for a bungalow. They did offer the asking price, so must have got at least £117k for their terrace, Tyrone is a bit thick and may have paid over the odds, or Jack may have had a win on the horses.
Now Vera's dead, so Jack will be staying, so he can sell the bungalow and buy back the terrace house and still have money in the bank from Vera's insurance, he'll be quids in, spend the rest of his life in the bookies and the Rovers.

do you spend all day in front of the TV?

its not real!

they probobaly got a high price on there house cuz its on a famous street?

The bungalow was for eighty seven thousand. Jack had the leaflet in his hand on Friday evening. Maybe they also had some savings in the bank from when they sold the pub and bought their house back.
