Trisha Goddard, do you think i's exploitation that her show is sponsored by !

Question: people on a low income or benefits, who then charge them an extortionate amount of interest?

The majority of people who are watching Trisha are on low incomes or benefits, my friend who is a single mom of two's washing machine broke down the week before Christmas, as she's on benefits she had no alternative but to get a new one from Bright House, the washing machine cost £349, including the interest however she has to pay back £989!!!!

I feel Trisha choosing Bright House as a sponsor is exploiting people on benefits or a low income, ridiculously their viewers, whats your views?????

Yes, I agree...........you have only to look at the type of people on there to see that they are on low income and only people who have no jobs would watch it regularly!

Well pointed out!

She doesnt care i dont suppose

i agree with you though, i was a bit stunned to see that too when i watched a bit of her programme late one night when there was nothing on tv

sponsorship is about money, pure and simple.

I think its more exploitative to get people who desparately need the £50 she offers to bare all on national tv....

I agree...it's the same with most sponsored shows though...they target products to the right audience. The one i like is This Morining which is sponsored by Learn Direct...it is a bit of a kick up the *** to all the lazy folks who are out of work for no legitimate reason. If i remember right Oprah is sponsored bu some sort of cleaning product - aimed right at housewives.
All the ads in the daytime are for debt solutions and high interest loans and other dodgy services...not to mention about 50 for Haze and Mr Muscle.
But the Trisha one is a real stinker. I wonder if you could conact the channel about that cause it does seem unethical.

Your friend would have been better off to get a washing machine from a catelogue as the interest rates would have far less and her repayment less.

But to your question I think you are quite right and it ought o be investigated. Carol Vodermann was hauled over the coals for a similar thing a few years ago when was advertising a product aimed at the less fortunate in our society. From that day I have never been able to stand the woman. I see she at it though.

Its just marketing, theres no point bright house advertsing at people would'nt be intrested ?

I agree with you its extortionate the interest that bright house charge but they are all out for making profit, however I dont think Trisha has any outright decision on what type of advertising she has on the show, I think the decision is made by channel 5 who broadcast the show.
Not everyone who watches Trisha is on benefits with no job just sitting on there back sides all day.

I have been complaining about Trisha for years. I thought we had got rid of her when she disappeared from ITV. The woman is so stupid that she is dangerous.
Just because you are an ex-prostitue,ex-junkie, who married a gay man does not give you rights to hand out drivel dressed up as genuine help. I mean, have you ever listened to what she says?.
I can't understand why your freind went to Bright House for a new washing machine. In most parts of the UK you can rent one for £3 a week or buy a re-conditioned one for £99. Some charities even give them away.
The interest rates at Bright House are 29% a year. Rip off.

These shows are aimed at two types of audience.
1. The gullible.
2. Worse still the vulnerable..
They don't care which as long as they make some money.
Your friend would probably have been better going to a local credit union.

Yes,....you are damn right!

That shop is a total rip-off!,...best to buy cash or get a proper Catalogue if you're credit rating is good!

Bright House use the fact that most people are on low wage's and Benefit's to sell there stuff at high prices as most of them may not be able to afford it cash, and have bad credit against there names.

I would rather do without than buy from them!

You've actually got a point there whip....just surprised Jeremy Kyle didn't get there first !!!

I agree entirely,Chick and these loan companies advertise in between these programmes too to entice poor people into further debt.
It's like these programmes such as "Make Your Child Brilliant" being sponsored by vitamin pill companies. Most children can get all of the vitamins that they need from a balanced diet not expensive pills which can only be useful, under a doctors recommendation,in certain cases as a boost and who exactly sponsors the "Supernanny" Programmes? and this is linked from her site -

- it's a form of brainwashing and should be outlawed. Why on earth pay money for that sort of thing when parents got by for years without it?
A washing machine though these days is essenetial and I agree - your friend should have gone to a credit union first.

Yes agree with you and it is discusting to think they are sponsoring them.
Your friend is going to be paying that back for ages bless her.
They have a lot of shows now with sponsors just to grab money and also advertise every single time they have an advert break. Why can't they do sponsor of a charity that would benefit instead?

i never thought of it that way but now that you mention it, i dont watch that crap anyway!

there is a shark in every pond.

I totally agree with you Whip....she should hang her head in shame....

I think the people behind the show 'Trisha' grb anyone they can get their hands on who is daft enough to air their dirty linen in public. Everytime i watch it, there are loads of chavy type people on there swearing and punching each other.

They cant sort their problems out, they have to egt someone else to do it and its pathetic.

Its a scum of the earth programme.

I do not think that Trisha Goddard cares a damn about it, as long as they keep sponsoring and she gets her ill gotten gains, she is satisfied.

With the sponsorship mnoney from Brighthouse ... I don't think Trisha gives a f*** what we think....

dR bad
but Brighthouse won't be getting MY giro

I don't think some of the people here realize that sometimes Bright House IS the ONLY option ! (been there, done that)
I think Tricia uses Bright House for the reason that poor people need them and have no other choice - perhaps we shall soon see someone who is up to their neck in debt because of Bright House actually ON the Tricia show !
