American Idol: Does this show select the best singer each season?!
Question: no because last year chris daughtry didn't win. he was clearly the best. look at his sales compared to the winner. don't get me wrong, i liked taylor hicks but chris daughtry was better than him. i'm actually glad he didn't win because he's definitely doing better not being in the idol trap. there's only two who have really done well as idol's and that's carrie underwood and kelly clarkson.

Each season that it is on there is a winner. This is season 7 so we have 6 idols.
The show does not. It is the public that makes the choice.
Your question can be taken two ways. The idea is that the audience would vote and choose the best singer... but do they really? Can we truly say that each person that has been chosen throughout the 6 seasons has been the "best singer"? Probably not. I can think of two off the top of my head that are definitely *not* getting anywhere with their careers.
IMHO the best singer has never been selected. Did we ever hear anything from Taylor Hicks?? While Elliot and Chris 3 and 4th place place have done quite well. Jennifer Hudson is also doing a whole lot better than Fantasia.
That's the way it's supposed to be, but I don't think it is. I really thought Chris Daughtry was the best during his year, but he came in 4th. Taylor Hicks and Katherine McPhee were both dropped from their label(#1 & #2 of the same year w/ Daughtry) and Daughtry is still soaring. I think the only year that an awesome singer won was with Carrie Underwood.
