I hate soap operas?!
Question: I think they are visual and verbal garbage the actors get paid too much the plots are stupid and they take up air time that could be much better spent on REAL people who do good things in REAL LIFE .

well I like soap operas. I know they are unrealistic and whatever, but if I wanted reality I'd watch a reality show. If you don't like soap operas don't watch them.
Then don't watch them. I'm sure the things that you enjoy other people think is stupid and a waste of time. By the way this is a Q&A forum.

I don't think all soap plotlines are stupid. Some can be quite interesting and thought-provoking. And actors and actresses may get paid too much money, but in my opinion it's footballers and big fat cats in the city who get paid too much, and I'd rather have to sit through 84 hours of non-stop EE or Emmerdale than watch a non-sensical footy match.
So?
I watch only 2 soaps. I don't confuse them with real life. they're just programs that I enjoy watching. If I have work to do in the house, I don't watch that day.
It's my one little escape in life.

They are not any different from the other crap on television and in movie theaters. There are just as many dumb and outrageous plots in other shows and movies. Star Trek anyone?

Condolances to your wife. If you think that all soap lovers are "sad and should get a life," I can only imagine how you belittle your wife and make her feel for watching them. Half of night time viewing consists of soaps, but the night time dramas aren't called that because people are caught up in labels and would be afraid to watch them.
I guess I could "Get a life" as you say, but right now I'm to busy working, going to Law School, selling real estate, and writing a book (Historical Faction to be used in the classroom) to get any more of a life.
I enjoy watching my soaps, especially on the week-ends because they are an entertaining way to relax and "shake off" all the idiots that one must put up with in "real life."
My other favorite thing to watch is CNN. -- My OTHER soap.
I hate the American soaps like Days Of Our Lives as they are so unrealistic and the storylines go on for years instead of being resolved and moving on. I will never forget the Marlena being possesed by the devil storyline! So, so stupid! And what is with the actors speaking to a person but facing the other way? Or talking to themselves so we can hear their thoughts? Those shows annoy me.
I love Aussie soaps Neighbours and Home And Away though.

You don't know what your missing! I can't live without General Hospital. I am a stay at home mom and when my daughter is napping and the house is clean, its straight to the TV for some good drama! We have DVR so I record the GH episodes and they have been building up due to having the twins but now being up almost all hours of the night, I've been watching them.
