Is MTV's purpose to make sure young people are dissatisfied with their lives!

It's a negative feedback sys: the ads make consumerism (and the byproducts, which are what you mention) and MTV reinforces this. They're out to make $, even if that means screwing with people. Report It

    Absolutely. MTV is poisoning our young's mind with garbage. MTV is saying, that if you aren't rich and popular then you don't matter. It's sad, because a lot of young kids where I live buy into this nonesense. In the future, they will struggle because they will find out that they didn't accomplish anything.
    Probably, especially with all the crap shows they are showing: Laguna Beach, The Hills, all full of spoiled rich bit*ches, ...

    and that's not even all of it.

    BRING BACK THE OLD MTV!!

    For all of the above reasons, I don't watch MTV. I realized it was ridiculous when I was about 14, sadly, still 7 years later, people still aren't catching on to that fact.
    I think you are missing the point. It's not that we should be dissatisfied with our lives, but that we should be thankful that our lives have a little more depth and character. Yes some of these kids on these shows live a luxurious life, but material possessions seem to be all they have going for them.
