The movie Bar Fly was based on who? And who starred in it?!

Question: It was based on a character by Charles Bukowski- the stars in the movie were Mickey Roarke, who played Henry Chinaski- a drunk poet. And the female lead was Faye Dunaway.

The main character, Chinaski, is basically Bukowski's alter ego.

According to Wikipedia: "Barfly is a 1987 feature film. It is one of two films written by American author and poet Charles Bukowski (the other being Factotum), a semi-autobiography of the part of his life spent drinking in Los Angeles, California.

"Barfly The Continuing Saga of Henry Chinaski" is an original work by Charles Bukowski. Originally was a screenplay illustrated by the author for film but released three years earlier in 1984 and film production was still pending. It was commissioned by the French film director Barbet Schroeder who owns worldwide film rights."

Mickey Rourke starred in it, along with Faye Dunaway. I've only seen it once though and I had no idea it was based on anyone. But I just found out it was based on Charles Bukowski, who wrote the script.

The film is based on the real life experiences of writer/poet/journalist Charles Bukowski. It stared Mickey Rourke and Faye Dunaway.
