Why does Todd(OLTL) call tommy "sam"-when he already has a kid named s!

Todd's kids are Starr & Jack.
He's going to change Tommy's name to Sam and name him after Sam Rappaport who was a friend to Todd in spite of himself. Todd doesn't deserve Tommy. Marcie's a better mother than Todd could ever be a good father.
actually his older son is named Jack not sam- so his kids are Starr, Jack, and now "tommy"/sam
Todd's other son's name is Jack not Sam.
He renamed Tommy "Sam," after his friend who helped him out when he was younger, "Sam Rappaport." (deceased)
Todd re-named Tommy to Sam. He named him after Sam Rappaport (Lindsay's ex-husband, now deceased) because Sam was a good friend/mentor to Todd.
