Why can some shows like Medium continue even though the writers are striking?!

Question: "Medium" has only 9 episodes "in the can"( completed, ready for viewing). The show is "shut down" at present, & hoping for an end to the "strike", so they can get back to "work".

Answers: "Medium" has only 9 episodes "in the can"( completed, ready for viewing). The show is "shut down" at present, & hoping for an end to the "strike", so they can get back to "work".

Because those episodes were written before the strike.

Because the episodes were already filmed and the show would be taken off the air if the didn't show them.

because as others have said those episodes were written and filmed before the strike happened. As long as the episode was written prior to the strike it can be filmed. the issue is most shows that started in the fall do not have enough episodes written to continue filming.

They tape ahead of time. But about those writers, I think they have proven their point and need to get they asses back to work. I know I would need to put that sign down and get my *** back to work by now. I don't think they are proving a point
