Whats with all these American Idol *stars* being dropped by their record labels?!

Question: Just being on American Idol does not guarantee sales...

Katharine McPhee has made it clear that she would rather be doing movies, etc, than singing. Her first cd didn't even go gold, so this is no surprise that she's seperated from the record label.

For some of these American Idol *stars*, being dropped by their record labels is one of the best thing that can happen to them. Taylor for instance, can now make the type of music he actually wants to make instead of having the powers that be that signed him on American Idol telling him everything he should be doing. I liked his cd, but you could tell it wasn't something he would have recorded if he had any say. Bo Bice had the same problem. Plus, according to USA today, "if Arista is captivated by Taylor's new songs, it can arrive at an agreement to release an album of them. Not unprecedented in the complicated world of artist/label relations, and an interesting development." Otherwise, he'll most likely just release an independent record.

I think they were only guaranteed A 1 year agreement with American Idol>>>> AND maybe some of these Record Labels are seeing them as A joke<<<<They are all good singers and I watch every season but,,I think America has seen enough,,My favorite part of the show is when it first starts and they do the auditions

Trust me, if the record label does not make what they think is a sufficient return on their investment it's by-by for no matter who it is.

Its also because none of those singers you mentioned appeal to the public eye as much as others. I mean dont get me wrong they are great singers but, none of them sing the types of music that the younger generations are listening to.

Differences of creative opinons. I heard an album that Taylor Hicks produced himself several years prior to American idol and it was far better than the one this record label did for him. I hear he is going to produce another album on his own and I can't wait
