The way core characters are treated?!

Question: anyone else hate the way that GH has been treating some of it's long term core characters? killing off emily, alan and now georgie? bobbie taken off contract, monica's almost never around. i hated what they did to the character of anna devane when they brought her back last year, anna used to be tough, but witht he eli love story line, she was like a preteen, gushing and making a fool of herself and now look at what they're doing with felicia! the old felicia never would have taken the crap that maxie's been throwing at her. anyone else feel this way?

I agree with everything you said. I've watched the ABC soaps since 1968 and can remember other times when my favorite characters were written out for one reason or another. Eventually I learned to love the newer characters as much as the old and moved on, but it is very annoying when they "clean house" like they have recently.

As much as I loved Georgie, she's young and will bounce back with bigger and better things. The same cannot be said for Alan and Bobbie. They've been on GH a looooooong time and might find it a little more difficult to find roles elsewhere to suit them. I didn't care much for Natalia's "Emily" so I won't miss her, and knowing that it was HER choice to leave doesn't really put her in the same category as the others, but I do think that killing off the character was a mistake that GH may regret in the future (although nobody is ever REALLY dead on a soap *laugh*).

It's one of the reasons I stopped watching. It went from being General Hospital with families like the Quartermaines, Spencers, and even the Cassadines, to being a cross between the Sonny/Carly Show and The Sopranos Lite. If I want to watch chaos and mayhem, I'll watch the news.
