What's so funny about "The Family Guy"???!
Question: Is there a joke I'm missing? I watch it cuz people say it's so funny but I never laugh, well maybe I chuckle once during a whole show, if that even. I don't get it, is there an inside joke or background I'm supposed to know that will make it funny???
I get the same thing from Mind of Mensia and "Drawn Together" also - I just don't get them, am I missing something?

I am with you completely. Everyone I know loves this show but I can't stand it. I don't know if it's the horrible animation that I can't get past or what.
I think that what you are "missing" is a sense of humor.
family guy is the uncoventual humor that no one dares to speak of but still.......................its like jackass and reno 911 put together almost

I do sit on the other side of the fence from you though. Family Guy, Mind of Mencia, Drawn Together, Simpsons, South Park. All that stuff cracks me up. But I laugh at funerals, so don't make me your benchmark! :-)
It's all in what you like. Comedy is not a popularity contest.
It's not funny to anyone under 35 because all the references they use are from the 70's and 80's. So it is you. You'll never get it because you weren't around then to see the original stuff they spoof on. My husband and I sit here hysterical at some of the stuff and our 12 year old just looks at us like we're nuts. It's not a kid cartoon. Neither is drawn together by the way.

the reason its so funny to me is because its your typical american idiot and his family...the good wife whose had her struggles with drugs and sexuality issues...the daughter whose ignored, the idiot son, and the evil youngest...its great!

I think it is hilarious and I love Reno 911 (favorite is when Jones and Garcia beat the crap out of the Milkshake guy).
The part I like best is when they are being completely absurd.

Family Guy is one of the funniest shows I've ever seen.
I look forward to watching it. It relaxes me. I think it's a very smart show, which sounds strange because Peter is so stupid, but it is. Reno 911 is good, too. Give Family Guy
a chance. I didn't watch it when it first came out. If you don't like it, just don't watch it.
I think it's hysterical, mainly because it is SO anti-PC and because it SO blatantly crosses the good-taste line. To me, shows like Reno 911 are unwatchably dumb. Sorry. Just my opinion.
Humor has many different tastes and flavors; one man's trash is another man's gold.
They did a South Park about this; everyone was telling Cartman that he would *love* Family Guy and he actually really *hated* it and didn't get the humor.
