Is anyone watching Hugh's Chicken Run?!

Question: What do you think of it? Will it make you start buying free range chickens?

Answers: What do you think of it? Will it make you start buying free range chickens?

I watched it last night and had chicken out of the freezer defrosting for tonights dinner.
After watching it I went out and bought a free range chicken today.Watched it again tonight

I will never eat any other chicken again which I can't guarantee is free range.
that includes ready meals, chicken sandwiches etc.

Absolutely disgusted by how these chickens are treated

yes i am watching it, and i lived near a chicken farm as a child and I always buy free range, for an extra few pence.

Yes! Its horrendous, i knew about battery chickens but actually seeing it is pretty powerful stuff. I cant bury my head in the sand any more and will no longer buy cheap chickens.

Thanks I forgot that was on.

I think it might do, although we have seen programmes about poultry farming before so the conditions are not a suprise. In fact the birds in Hugh's barn look to have more room than some other documentaries I have seen.

It's true what they said about the packaging being misleading, supermarkets really don't make it clear where the chickens have come from.

To be honest, I tend to buy the best meat I can afford - the mass-produced chickens on the show are in better conditions then most battery farms!

I believe that a happy animal produces the best meat and that animals should live the best possible existence.

I am lucky as when I buy a whole chicken, I go to a farm near me and get it almost still kicking - the chickens are free range and roam around the yards and field all day, just go in at night for safety and warmth. The flavour is awesome, and not much more expensive then supermarket rubbish!

Grim

I am. The fat tongue has just put in an appearance. Poor Hugh, Tesco for the chop though !!

Yup I watched it. I'm a vegetarian so...obviously wont be buying any chickens. I didn't like that fat bint who said she didn't care because she couldn't afford them, I'd like to see what other rubbish she is buying. 2 for £5 every week?! Why doesn't she try eating something else besides chicken? Maybe if she stopped eating it like it was going out of fashion she could afford a nice free range one sans chemicals every now and again.

Also, eating chicken increases a persons chance of getting bladder cancer by something like 50% so if the increased cost of free range is the only thing that's going to make people eat it less then maybe it's not a bad thing.

lol.. i watched it yesterdsay evening. its turly shocking how them chickens are treated.. 17 chickens in one square mile is disgusting.

And that poor little chick who hurt its legs.. i wanted to cry. i dont think i can stop eating chicken though..but i will consider changing to free range for the sake of animal rights.

Those chickens are entitled to happiness and quality of life, and look how they are treated.

I always buy free range, and i think it,s great that the government have told all battery farmers to change in three years or be closed down.

yes ! went to tesco with mum and they have sold out !! all organic and free range ones , only racks of 2 for £5 left , people were staying about poor birds ,on yogurt deptment a biker angel, explained the delightd of rachaels farm organic yogurts so that went in the trolley aswell , tesco must had a field day at the check out !

Both me and my husband watched it and we both said that we would now buy free range chickens. If you only eat chicken once or twice a week it's only going to cost an extra 3 or 4 quid and I can't see how that is going to bankrupt people. Even single parents should be able to afford it. If they cut down the amount they spend on kids crisps, sweets and fizzy drinks then there would be enough money to spend on healthy stuff.

I have watched it and it has certainly changed my outlook - personally im not a great lover of the cluck cluck but hubby and kids love it and i still moan about the price but i will only ever buy free range for them now after seeing the appaling conditions that these birds are made to live in. and hugh's is on a much smaller scale so image a real chicken farm. how depressing for those birds

Yes, I'm buying free range from now on! I have one in my fridge as we speak.

I've always bought free range eggs.

I think that what he's doing is great!

not me

Nope

I'm watching. Not convinced to buy free range because of cost, and I realise animals are battery reared to be eaten and make profit.

Aw, he's crying now ffs..

well someone must be watching otherwise it wouldnt be aired

Nope.

I'll keep buying chickens going cheep!
