What's wrong with BBC1, why is the "test card" back on the screen?!

News 24 is on. Perhaps due to the severe weather your area feed to news 24 is lost therefore they can only transmit the test signal?

It's because of the bloody wind!
They seem to have run out of programmes, bearing in mind that even "repeats" incur fees. It would appear that the extortionate amount of money that we are required to pay out does not, any longer, result in enough revenue to pay for even those repeated programmes.
The BBC really is beyond the pale, and is the reason I got rid of my television a few years ago, and have only watched very occasional programmes since, in friends houses.
No other country on the planet would suffer the appalling "service" they get from their national television provider if they had to pay as much as is required in the UK.
What is even more galling is that, if you were to chose never to watch any BBC channels ever again, you will still be required, by law, to pay for that service you do not use. Indeed, you pay for none of the others!!!!
It's probably just your region, mine is fine up here in dark and windy Scotland.

Big T - even if you have no TV you are paying for the adverts on the non BBC channels - every time you buy a product that is advertised. eg electricity, gas, food in tescos, M&S, Morrissons, a car, rail travel, feminine hygeine products. For some items, a third of the retail cost is for its advertising.

Not only did I get the testcard, I mistakenly keyed in channel 30 rather than 3 and got the speaking clock! No picture just snow but the very clear voice four forty and thirty seconds, four forty and forty seconds....
