Does anybody know any spoilers for the next series of Dr Who?!

Question: Only the stuff that has officially been announced by the BBC should be taken as concrete. Everything else is rumour and speculation.

OK so here is what is known so far, episode by episode.

1. Title - "Partners in Crime": Donna Noble (Catherine Tate) is trying to track down The Doctor during an alien emergency in modern-day London. Guest star will be Sarah Lancashire playing Miss Foster, seen in the trailer at the end of "Voyage of the Damned", apparently using a sonic screwdriver.

2. Title - "Planet of the Ood": The Doctor and Donna encounter the Ood on their home planet. Guest star will be Tim McInnery of Blackadder fame.

3. Title not known: The Doctor & Donna arrive in Pompeii in 79 AD, on the eve of the historic eruption of Mount Vesuvius. should they warn the residents of Pompeii of the forthcoming catastrophe or leave them to fend for themselves? The featured monsters appear similar to the petrified remains of the eruption's victims. Guest stars will include Peter Capaldi.

4. Title - "The Sontaran Stratagem": First of a two part story featuring the Sontaran's latest attempt to invade Earth. This episode will see the return of Martha Jones (Freema Agyeman) and will heavily feature UNIT, who are "back properly" according to Russel. T Davies. Guest stars will include Christopher Ryan of "The Young Ones" fame, who will play the Sontaran leader. Bernard Cribbins may also reappear in this or the following episode, reprising his role from "Voyage of the Damned".

5. Title not known: Second part of the Sontaran story.

6. Title not known: No info available.

7. Title: "T.U.A.T.W": The Doctor and Donna travel back in time to meet Agatha Christie and have an adventure involving a giant wasp. Guest stars include Fenella Woolgar (playing Agatha Christie) and Felicity Kendal.

No other episode titles are known, and no other official information about storylines has yet been released.

Other confirmed info on the series:-

Catherine Tate will appear in every episode as the Doctor's companion Donna Noble. Freema Agyeman will rejoin the Tardis crew halway through the series. Billie Piper will appear in three episodes as Rose Tyler (probably 11, 12 and 13), alongside Donna and Martha.

Unconfirmed, but pretty concrete: John Barrowman let slip in an interview that he had been involved in filming for series 4 of Doctor Who, so it seems pretty certain that captain Jack will be back at some stage.

Unconfrmed, but not so certain: John Simm has apperently been spotted during filming, reprising his role as the Master.

Unconfirmed rumours:
1. The Tardis interior may have a new look.

2. There might be one or more episodes where the Doctor is missing, which will feature Donna, Martha and Rose searching for him.

3. It has been rumoured that Davros might be back in series 4 (more likely for the 2009 special episodes I reckon), and could be played by Sir Ben Kingsley.

4. There may be a two part story written by Steven Moffat, featuring the original Cybermen from Mondas / Telos, rather than the alternate universe ones seen in series 2.

Unlikely rumours, unfounded speculation, and wishful thinking:-

1. There are rumours that Sarah Jane Smith, K9, Micky Smith + Pete and Jackie Tyler will all be involved in the final three episodes (unlikely).

2. There are rumours that The Axons will appear in Series Four. This has been fuelled by their mention in the finale of Series Three and also by the similarity of the Host in "Voyage of the Damned" to the Axon's humanoid form (unfounded speculation).

3. There may be a multiple Doctor story, possibly featuring Christopher Eccleston, Paul McGann and Sylvester McCoy as well as David Tennant, to celebrate Doctor Who's 45th anniversary this year (wishful thinking).

4. There are rumours that the final three episodes of the series will feature the Time War (wishful thinking).

5. There are rumours that the Rani will return (unfounded speculation).

6. There are rumours that the Ice warriors will return (unfounded speculation).

7. There are rumours that Romana, Susan and various other characters from the Doctor's past will return (wishful thinking).

8. There was a rumour that David Tennant would be leaving at the end of series 4 and would be replaced by either John Simm or James Nesbitt depending on which newspaper you read (Utter nonsense denied by all concerned).
