Simple answer? Copyright. They have been made in the US and cannot be broadcast outwith the US.

I'd go into FAR more detail, but I don't want to bore you.

these sites has most tv shows not just for americans

It could also be because of spoilers. TV shows in the US and Canada are generally on TV about half a year before any other country gets to see them. Some people get pretty upset when they stumble on a spoiler.

I completely agree!! I was looking for One Tree Hill eppies on the CW, and I wasnt able to watch them coz they're only open to US or Canadian citizens...not fair!! And there's no other site to watch these online for free either....

The networks that produce television shows sell the license to distribute those shows to other television networks in other countries. They need to be able to guarantee those networks that purchasing the license to the show is worth the price.

By allowing international viewers to watch a television program on the website of the company that produced it originally, they'd be reducing the resale value of the program to international networks.

We have the same problem in the US if we want to watch programming from other countries, for example. If there's a show that's produced by the BBC, it may be available on the BBC website to people who live in the UK, but its blocked to us in America because they want to preserve their ability to broadcast it on BBCAmerica or to license it to US networks ("Extras", for example, was broadcast in the US on HBO).

The shows are made here by US companies so they should get to decided when they are released to other countries, and that usually happens months later so it would spoil it if you got to see it before it was on tv...plus I'm sure there's an issue of money.

Racist? really? It's all about money. Plain and simple.
