Does anyone know if the rumour that Days of Our Lives is being cancelled is true!

Question: Soaps as a whole took a nose dive during the whole OJ trial. Days has been on the chopping block for the past few years, so much so that NBC made them cut their budget down to the bare bone.

NBC has been rethinking their whole daytime format for sometime now. They have been going with more talk shows because a huge number of talk shows are syndicated thus NBC does not have to cover production cost.

So for at least another year or two it seems that Days is safe, but if the ratings take anymore hits then I think NBC will cancel it.

I dont know if its true or not, but the story lines on that show go on forever. so boring. the whole Dimera versus Brady storyline is stale. The actors are good, its just the storylines that bite the big one

i agree with everything said above. i do watch occasionally but the sl drag on and omg end the whole dimera/brady/horton thing already its been going on for decades. bring in a new bad family or smtng. the writting needs to get better. that said i dont want it to get cancelled. its the last soap on nbc and daytime tv would suck without soaps...there really isnt anything other than soaps to watch on an afternoon. plus the rating dont take into account the fans who watch online, dvr or tape record epis. they really should update rating stds.

i have no idea!

Days contract is up for renewal in 2009. This is common as all contracts have and end date so it can be reviewed, modified, etc. NBC has made no secret about its desire to be Soap-free so there is a good possibility that it will be cancelled - but not a guarantee. If the ratings shine then it would be stupid to cut it. I plan to just keep watching and enjoying it for as long as a I can.
