Do you think my parents would like this?!
Question: let's say mom has been telling me to work in the medical field...as a nurse ...although this wasn't my initial interest...i started to seriously think of job security....so i majored in nursing....don't get me wrong i don't hate it....since i enjoy writing songs...and writing stories.....i wrote a sitcom treatment ...after working on it for a while..i had sent it in hopes of accomplishing something prestige...so i pick up the phone and it's the nbc director...and goes about how it needed some work but wanted to discuss it with the writers...but he told me he wanted to buy my treatment...he had discussed the money i can get...he gave me a range of 20 thousand...an episode....there already is a writer for the tv show but i would sorta be a co-writer
the thing is do ut hink my parents would get mad that i have to fly to new york?

wow - good for you - at least you put your best foot forward towards something that you love! good for you!!! and congrats! you can't please everybody, and what if this was your shot, and you didn't try? you will go on forever wondering - what if...? if you fly to new york - how long? remember - the writers strike is still going on, and you haven't joined the writer's guild union yet - so - you may want to think about that as well... co-writer - is it a bonafide - move you out there offer? if it were me - i would go for it. its really rough living with regrets. your parents could surprise you and be very proud of you. they may be shocked at first, and may express their concerns - you have to allow them to do that too.
well now if you are going to make 20 thousand an episode i dont know why your parents wouldnt have put you on the plane already to new york LOL i say they wont be mad!
Hey- this is probably a once in a lifetime chance for you... plus, it's what you truly enjoy, so don't let anybody- not even your parents- stand in your way... and besides, if you explain the situation and the money involved and how this is what you like doing, I don't think they'll be too upset about it. Who knows- they might end up encouraging you. So go for it... All the Best!!!
Of course not, as long as at least one of them accompany you not only to make sure this is legit and you are safe -- but also to help you make any decisions thrown your way !
