I asked the same question before I saw yours, and I totally agree -- I think tonight's episode was incredibly fishy. I wish we could get someone on here to say that they know a family that's actually done the swap, then we could get some information!

I think its all staged
It's exaggerated just like all other reality TV shows. I mean they show off for the camera I'm sure in life the dumb girl does some of her HW and isn't as dumb as she seems. And I'm sure that feminism lady wasn't that feminst. But some of it is real. But some is fake (example: that beauty pageant that the Little 6 Year old was in was staged and it was set up so she would win)
I don't know, but it was either that or that "Trading Spouses" show, remember the crazy lady that was a self proclaimed "god warrior" that was famous for screaming "She's not a Christian, aaaaaaahhhhh"........ well her daughter died in a car wreck a couple months ago. It was really sad. TMZ.com had the article.
I think it's both. There are real people on the show, but I don't think that the situation of the homes that they swap is real. I know alot of people, but none are as eccentric as the folks on the show. Don't they win some money like 50,000? Isn't it all about money? Regardless- I LOVE THIS SHOW! My husband hates it, but he'll watch it with me sometimes. I'm a "real " person, and I wouldn't be caught dead on the show.
Yes and no....I am the "feminist homeschool" mom from last night and while it isn't fake, it is definitely staged....and it is an honorarium - but it is nowhere near 50K.
For example, the modeling photo I tore up - a fake and Ralph knew it (his reaction was obvious) and when DuWain peeled out - it was the crew he was honked at - not Karen.
But Alicia's folks really do her all her homework and she's not dumb at all, but maybe a little out of practice in using her intellect - she has great potential!
What else do inquiring minds want to know?
