In the series, Lost: what was the reason for Jack's divorce?!

Jack has a compulsive need to "fix" things. It seemed that he lost interest in his marriage and basically put it on the back burner for a while. His wife wound up having an affair, and told him she wanted a divorce. Jack, of course, wanted to fix things, but she wanted no part in their marriage anymore.
In season 3, while the divorce is basically in process, Jack begs his ex to give him the name of the guy she left him for, which she refuses to do. He then calls all the phone numbers on her cell phone bill, hoping to find the guy. His father, Christian, comes to talk to him, and while there Jack dials another number off of Sarah's bill, and it happens to be Christian's number (his phone starts ringing with Jack right there). This leads Jack to believe that Sarah was messing around with Jack's dad.
Did the show every say FOR sure this was or was not the case? In true Lost fashion, it did not...but it has lead us to believe, for now, at least, that Jack was just losing it at the time. Christian was probably NOT involved with Sarah.
But who knows for sure...
He obsessed about his job and lost the love in his relationship.... basically he's just obsessive and always needs something to fix. Once his relationship with the girl was going well he lost interest in it until it was broken again.
Because of his obsession with his job, he is alienated from his wife. His wife in turn then has an affair.
