Father Ted in other countries?!

Question: Were Ireland and Britain the only places where Father Ted was successful?

Answers: Were Ireland and Britain the only places where Father Ted was successful?

I know it was shown in Sweden and Finland, and I think France and Italy, and more recently on BBC America. I don't know if it was successful in these countries or not.

That is a very good question. Did other countries show it? At one time I would have thought America would have banned it but The Simpsons can be fairly subversive too.

succesful inbritain more than ireland i think
i didnt hear of it anywhere else though

it was definately one of my favourite of all times comedy
absolutely hilarious at times, most of the time in fact

It must be because I have seen so many questions on here about Father Ted and I've never heard of it (( USA )) I wish we did get it because it sounds good.

It was one of the most requested 'Brit-coms' for the Dallas PBS station. About 10 hours of British comedy shows each week are broadcast here. Father Ted is among those shown, though the station rotates its offerings.

Father Ted is my favourite sitcom!
"Oh, God, help! I don't want to be a milkman anymore!"
and
"I'm in tremendous pain, Ted."

I'm not sure where else it is/was shown, though. I know that some American company have got the rights to produce an American version, which I find horrific. I hope they don't go through with it. How can they replace Ted ad Dougal with American actors? It just sickens me.
