Is there an existing theory on how the Enterprise achieves "warp" spee!
Question: You have doubtless heard of Einstein's Special Theory of Relativity (which dealt with bodies travelling at constant accelerlation) and his follow-up General Theory of Relativity (which dealt with bodies travelling at non-constant acceleration), but there was a third one, the details of which were kept secret by the US military for a number of years. This, the Extra-Ordinary Theory of Relativity deals with bodies travelling at warp speed, but the mathematics therein is so complex that, until now, computers have been unable to solve its equations. It has only been with the development of Windows Vista that these equations are beginning to make sense (which goes some way to explain why the majority of Vista users find it so difficult to use the program.)

Duh they actually did research some science which is rare has to do with a little thing called tachyons .
I believe so. Don't they say it in the series? I think it bends time and space which has been theorized of being possible.
i dont know how the uss enterprise does it, but i rigged my interstellar cruiser to go "warp speed' basically once fired it works on a reverse thrust mechanism (the light photons repel the tachyons at a speed greater than they (photons) themselves can go)

I think it is supposed to work by 'warping' space around the ship into a bubble in which the ship does not move relative to the space inside the bubble, and the whole bubble moves through space, maybe through a subspace corridor. This is all speculation on my part, here are some sites about it.
warp speed was achieved thru a substance called anti matter it then was released into the warp drive accelerator to produce warp speed
