Why are the daytime soaps not affected by the writer's guild strike?!

Question: The soaps seem to go on and on and everyone else is showing re-runs. Why?

The soaps ARE affected by the writers strike but because they are taped at minimum 6 weeks in advance they've got a stockpile of shows to last a bit. See here: (in the Update at the bottom)

They will be affected, it's just taking a bit longer. Per tvguide, the CBS soaps and NBC's "Days of our Lives" had enough scripts to air through January. The ABC soaps will most likely run out of scripts a bit earlier than that.

They will be, eventually. Soaps are filmed about 6 weeks in advance. You shouldn't see re-runs until at least January. I watch ABC soaps so I'm not that worried. I don't know about OLTL but GH is filmed well into 2008.
