Singing Chipmunk is exactly right. They then went on to make Margo Hughes Chief of Police, and I believe Jack Snyder went to be the Head Detective.
He did not die on the show, he committed suicide (feel so sorry for him and family) and so they wrote it into the show that he was killed in the line of duty.
yes he commit ed suicide. I was shocked...so they had to write his death on to the show.
