yes, these types of dramas are an insult to the people who live in these places--they are just a caricature of real life---most of the script writers have probably never left surrey or wherever they come from themselves

I`ve got to agree with you. I also think that most other soaps are as bad too.

Id rather live in Walford than Hackney!

I never got into it, Brookside was and will always be the best soap ever!

Move house from Hackeny and stop watching Eastenders on TV.

Move to Yorkshire (Gods Country) and start watching Emmerdale ;-}

lol well said

regards x kiti x

i totaly agree with u they just keep on getting worse and the other copy it its so not worth the money we pay on tv license..

Compared to Benny Hill, and Red Dwarf, everything is awful. Eastenders was not as bad as most American Soap Operas...General Hospital, Days Of Our Lives, etc. Actually, Eastenders was set in England, but shot in Australia. The black girl on Eastenders was an American who used to do Rowan & Martins' Laugh-In with Goldie Hawn. She moved to Australia, married an Ozzie, and acted on the show. It would never be my first choice for something to watch, but I'd watch it before watching All My Children. For non-depressing, I guess Jeeves & Wooster would be the way to go.

because of East enders am on anti depressants it wants baning or at least carry a warning

I agree with you.I also live in East London and its nothing like it.It really is a depressing programme and I agree with the person who says to watch Emmerdale. They have a mixture of comedy and drama and it works.

I agree that Eastenders is depressing, but I feel many people watch it just because of that one factor alone in that no matter whats happening to you you can switch on Eastenders and see stabbings, kidnappings, murders and goodness knows what else and then think "Well at least my life is slightly better." its in fact the television equivalent of anti-depressants.

I am 100% with you on this one I everytime you see it someone is either moaning or crying and it leaves you feeling woirse than when you started watching it. But have you noticed how all the soaps are going down the road of doom and gloom and scandal very little in the way of humerous or happy storylines.
I lived in Balham for about two years and hated ever moment of it but it is more depressing watching Eastenders it makes you wonder who watches the **** in the first place.

Totally agree with you, never watch Eastenders, it makes me want to throw myself off a building is so damn depressing.

Crikes have you only just realised that ,its been like it since day one ,Who can forget the Christmas storylines between Den and Angie when he asked her for a divorce,Never mind we can always put it off and put some old BBC comedys on like Only Fools and Horses ,I think it was so sick ,Everybody loves Stacey and Bradley together ,Would she really want his strange looking father

eastenders is pure doom and gloom. i also think its hilarious that big ard phil still lives with his mummy and she still tells im wot to do.....

It doesn't depress me.
I have never watched it and probably never will.

Wow, I can't believe all these negative comments. I live in Canada, we are really far behind with this one but I enjoy it. Also love Coronation Street, we all do in Canada. I was enjoying Emmerdale but they took it away without warning. Bloody CBC. We get Eastenders only on BBC Canada. I wish they would re-run some of the old shows that were so funny. I love British humour and Brits in general. I would pay to see a rerun of "Some Mother's do ave Em".

Altho i still watch i do see where you are coming from, there are all quite predictable now, and we all sit there watching knowing exactly what is going to happen next - the worst. It would have been nice and different if lauren had burnt the DVD and they all had a lovely christmas, i don't think people wpould have not watched it they would have thought what a lovely episode, nothing bad happened, eveyone likes a happy ending, it makes you feel all warm inside

I love Eastenders, but I agree it is totally unrealistic, and doesn't portray the area it is set in well at all.

I also remember the few episodes of Eastenders where Pauline Fowler visited Ireland. The Irish were all portrayed to be rude lairy drunks, and there were farmyard animals (donkeys, sheep and goats) filmed walking up and down the streets and roads.

Obviously there were lots of complaints about it.

I live in Ireland and can honestly tell you it is not like that at all. Think they must have been imagining Ireland as it was 200 odd years ago!

Its been about the most miserable Christmas day so far, thats for sure, almost overkill, certainly depressing !

I guess its because its a very much CONDENCED version of where you used to live. Life and drama is everywhere lets face it, but as you say.........HOW MANY murders has there been in that square, jjjjeeeeeze not a healthy place to live huh!

Simple solution:

Don't watch it.

I used to live in Hackney, but was later able to leave the place - too many foreigners. God knows what it's like now.

By the way Eastenders, according to the papers had the top viewings for Xmas. Makes the rest seem pretty awful!
