Question: I thought smoking was banned at work places?, i still see soaps stars smoking on set or are those cigs just fake (props), anyone have the right answer, or do they have different laws for actors.....

smoking at work is not banned but the smoking inside a building such as a work place is.
I think those are fake cigarettes with a smoke prop to it.

yeah, who's gonna sue Coronation Street over a dumb breach if it really does constitute a breach?! Soaps try to reflect real life, people still smoke in real life even it has been from most places

In the theatre, smoking on stage can still be allowed as long as there is a reason for it. Permission has to be sought and on one show I worked on after the ban came in, it was allowed as the play took place in the 1960's, when a lot of people smoked - it was also mentioned in the script. I assume that in soaps, it is allowed as they reflect real life. So yes, I guess there is a different law for actors. I bet though, as soon as the camera stops rolling, that cigarettes have to be extinguished, and any actor who smokes in real life, will have to go outside with everyone else.

I haven't seen anyone smoking in a long time, but boy you can really see the wine, beer, whiskey, and all other kinds of alcohol. Strange no one ever has any completes about that. I think I had rather meet someone with a cigarette in their hand driving down the interstate then someone with a can or bottle.
i would imagine the rules apply to everyone , even in soapland they have to keep things real as such not everyone would have given up smoking just because of the smoking ban , so i'm guessing they are pretend cigarettes
