Spice Girls on SCD tonight - why that song?!
Question: Okay, I'm not a fan of the Spice Girls, so maybe I've just lost the plot. But wasn't that a "really really" OLD song they performed on Strictly Come Dancing? And don't they have a new single out now along with their world tour? I just don't understand why they didn't perform their current single to try and get people to buy it? (Although I've heard it's the worst selling charity record of all time, so maybe that's why?)
I just found it really strange and it seemed to date them terribly.

Probabaly because it's symoblic of what the dancers have been through, like, they were two people but they dance as one? Cheesy, but it is SCD!

yea i agree that they should have sang a newer song but considering i'm not a fan i thought they were kinda good!

They sang it because Matt and Flavia are now an item. They started off not knowing each other and have eventually become one.
I have never been able to see the point of the Spice Girls - as all they seem to do is mime. Another pointless group is Westlife - do they do anything other than sing i.e play an instrument, or dare I say it - write their own songs!!!!
I am led to believe that the Spice Girls write their songs but I'm not 100% sure how true this information is.

People often don't sing their current single on SCD. They choose a song that they can do a good dance to. Their current song has nothing to work with to make a dance routine worthy of being on prime time tv.
why oh why can they not get new material & stop raking up the past - even James Blunt sang better than them (& I can't stand him)

well it was a Christmas hit for them about 10 years ago, so maybe because it was xmas, they thought they would sing it, or else it could be because there were 2 couples left in the competition, and there could only be one winner (?)
I agree with the comment someone made about Mel C's horrible hat, it reminded me of the one Dipsey the Teletubby used to wear!
