Since when did Japan use on-screen clocks on TV shows?!

Question: Everytime I watch a Japanese TV show on the internet, an onscreen clock is displayed at the upperleft of the screen.

They did that way back in the 1970s, I noticed it when I got a tape of Gorangers, from 1975.
