Leon won because of Kylie's looks. Rhydian was far more talented. But leon won for a no. of reasons.
1) The phone lines were a fix.
2) Leon is more "normal" than rhydian, personally i like the individual kind of person but a lot of people prefer the normal and a lil bit boring type of image - leon
3) Kylie got him a lot of votes
4) he cried all the time thus makng people feel sorry for him

They were two entirely different styles. Rhydian's voice was quite strong and operatic at times. But Leon's was very smooth and effortless. No matter how emotional he got and nervous he was he sang the song great. I'm glad he won, he really deserved it.
Yes he is good looking and probably appeals to quite a few sections of society. I hope he gets on well with it and look forward to what he brings out.

it was a fix tried 8times to vote for Rhydian and it told me cud not accept vote then on the 8th time it told me that bt phone lines were down to this number!! Leon is a good singer dont get me wrong but it musta been his looks haha

I think he got it on his looks he is very good looking where as Rhydian is not the best looking he is far more talented & I was hoping he would win Rhydian will have a far more sucessful career in Music than Leon

BOTTOM LINE..............................he won because he cried and it was very close between them mainly because although ryhdian had the better voice it isn't the type of voice that would sell "pop" records...and in the end its all down to money and Leon had more of that Michael buble thing going on...so it was very tight between the two and then that little "sniff sniff I'm sooo innocent" by Leon nailed it for him by swaying the vote..

rhydian has lovely hair - he had nice dirty blonde locks that he swept sideways and suited him
and then dannii went and dyed it white and stuck it up in a back comb !!
regardless Rhydian should have won - he is the one with the talent, the looks, the star quality

I don't know why he won to be honest. The whole thing's a travesty. I've read that the duet with Kylie Minogue helped him to win.

I believe he won because the show encouraged folk to vote for their nation rather than talent. Scots always seem to vote for their own.
I cannot think of any other reason for him winning... it certainly wasn't his voice, looks, personality, charisma.........
The guy has nothing that makes me want to watch or listen to him.

I know the majority of the people on here are Rhydian fans, but I think I would be more likely to buy an album by Leon than Rhydian !!
It's the style of music that's the decider as I know Rhydian had the better voice etc. For me, Rhydian was not a 'pop' singer, but wasn't ready to compete with the world class opera stars yet ........ I think Lloyd Webber will be on the phone though, Phantom is calling me thinks !!!
i don't think it was his looks that got him there, i think on the night he sang the last song better, that's it I'm not saying ridders had a bad voice because he hasn't he can sing but when he sang with k/j it showed how weak his voice was compared to hers that didn't do him any favours

Well it certainly wasn't his talent Elric! Yes, his looks helped and the fact that he is young because all the young girls were voting for him. I think Kylie helped too because she sang with him and she is quite a legend is Kylie. Those two things plus the fact he is a Scot and all of Scotland were voting in their droves.
