Omid Djalili?!

Question: Can anyone explain to me why Omid Djalili has his own prime time bbc 1 show. He's been hawking the same old one trick act round the comedy circuit for years with pretty limited success and then suddenley he gets his own series. I can see how maybe he might get a few laughs in 15min standup gig but for how long can he keep pointing out the differences between Iran and the west, and then doing that dance. Anyone actually like him ? or know what the viewing figures are like ?

Got more to do with the liberal political correctness at the BBC than anything else. No offence to the guy but I just don't find his stuff funny.

No, i don't like his style of comedy. I don't find it funny at all!

i dont find him funny

I haven't seen it but I thought he was funny on Have I got News For You a while back.

Wouldn't have thought his act would deserve a series like.

Friends in high places?

I found him funny when he was on for about 5 minutes in other programmes but his new show is dire.

It is very funny the first time around, but when he does the same old act over n over again, its very boring.

It is all about politics. The West being perceived as giving an Iranian a major show on their main channel. Friends in high places.

i like some bits of his comedy but not the racist stuff i know he doesnt mean it but im surprised at not been labeled incisitefully(sorry!) if given another show then i hope he keeps WELL away the arab/english joke they sound like the old englishman/irishman/scotchman jokes of the 70's/80's

I am SO TIRED of his 2-dimensional ethnic schtick. I liked his standup routine, which made his tv show redundant - it is all one joke, consisting of, 'watch my self-loathing in belly-shaking action'. Can he talk about anything else?
