Which show was better for black culture: GOOD TIMES or THE COSBY SHOW?!

Question: Pick one. Which show helped black culture more.

Answers: Pick one. Which show helped black culture more.

I'm not sure if either one was better for the black culture.

With Good times, you saw a low income family struggle.
But that struggle was familiar to anyone in that predicament regardless of race.
And it showed that they did what they could to survive the odds.

The Cosby Show was more about a professional black family, but it's story lines were sappy and unrealistic.
Everything was set up for Cosby's one liner jokes......which weren't always funny.

Good times, daddy didn't play that, He was a great rol model and for real. Cosby was a black Brady bunch, kinda funny but corny in punishment.

the cosby show

The Cosby Show, gave people something to aspire to.

Good Times. It was a very popular ground breaking show at a time when a lot of people were still steeped in prejudice. Good Times made a way for Cosby.

I'd say that the Cosby show helped the Black community more because it was the first image of Black people having careers in fields that are considered highly "respectable" in the broader American culture.

I'm not black but I would say the Cosby Show because they show a family of upper middle class parents who are really intelligent and set their kids on a good course. And that proves to the young people they don't have to be uneducated thugs and "n" words (that you see in the media these days) to prove their "blackness" or prove the type of person they are.

That said, I haven't seen Good Times, so I can't really comment on the show.

Good Times. Its a great show, funny yet it relates to everyday struggles.

I think the Cosby show, it showed that Black people had other jobs such as drs and lawyers, and not all Black people were bus drivers or janitors. I loved both shows,
