Was TV better when there were only 12 channels?!

Question: I don't want to sound like an old funny duddy, and maybe my tastes have changed over time, but wasn't TV better when there were just 12 channels?

I mean, there still was football, baseball was on during waking hours, huge boxing matches like Ali-Frazier were on regular TV, mainstream movies were first released to the networks and there were many good sitcoms, cop shows and news shows instead of reality shows and the WB.

No.... No it was not. Less commercials yes, but was it better? No.

Sitcoms are devoid of intelligence any more that is for sure. Cosby was great and many others.

I like having many many options to watch on TV and when a commercial hits I can hit one button to change the channel. Most of the time we didn't used to change channels was because you had to adjust the antenna to point in the right direction to pick up the signal or make your brother stand there holding a spoon to the rabbit ears when you were desperate.

That usually entailed with a knock down dragged out fight with him.

I think the shows where much better
