Marston was fired by OLTL. Here's an article from Soap Central.

ABC has confirmed that troubled One Life to Live star Nathaniel Marston has lost his job. The firing comes in the wake of an incident last month in which Marston is accused of assaulting three people. The actor faces a court date in February.

A spokesperson for One Life to Live has ended speculation about Nathaniel Marston's (Michael McBain) future with the ABC soap. Marston has been let go from the show. The actor's dismissal stems from an October altercation in which Marston allegedly assaulted three people, including a police officer. Most industry experts expected that Marston would be fired; the show issued a statement shortly after the incident saying that Marston had been "taken off the schedule" pending an internal review.

"Nathaniel Marston has been a valuable member of the cast of One Life to Live bringing Michael McBain to life for legions of fans," the spokesperson said in a statement. "He leaves the show with our sincere appreciation for his many contributions and our support as he addresses personal challenges. We wish him well."

Marston broke his silence on the matter, issuing a response to ABC's statement on his official web site.

"Now that ABC has officially commented, I can confirm that I have been let go from One Life To Live. I don't think of this as an ending, but rather the beginning of a new chapter in my life. Your support and encouragement have meant the world to me and have buoyed my spirits in a trying time," Marston stated. " I know that my absence from the show will be a disappointment to many of you, so if you're upset by this turn of events, let the decision-makers at ABC hear your voice. I would also like to thank those of my co-workers at One Life To Live who took the time to get in touch with me to offer [their] friendship and prayers. You know who you are and let me just say that you are amazing people and I will never forget your compassion."

According to eyewitness accounts, at 4:50am on October 21st at 4:50am, Marston allegedly assaulted several bystanders with a metal crate. The attack was reportedly unprovoked and an arresting officer labeled the actor an "emotionally disturbed person" before Marston was admitted to the hospital. Marston was subsequently charged with 11 different charges, including assault, resisting arrest and reckless endangerment. He is scheduled to appear in criminal court on February 4th, 2008.

Meanwhile, One Life to Live moved at a frenzied pace to recast Michael as soon as possible. With the current strike by writers, rewriting scripts to explain Michael's sudden disappearance would be unrealistic and nearly impossible. The show offered no comment on its plans for the role of Michael McBain.

Chris Stack will take over as Michael on December 3rd -- at least temporarily. Stack appeared as Walt on a few episodes of As the World Turns in 2006. He's also appeared in a handful of feature films. It is unclear if Stack will simply fill in until the show is able to find a permanent replacement or if the actor has been hired to finish out the character's storyline and allow the writers the opportunity to write out the character.

Meanwhile, Marston airs for the final time on November 29th.

Maybe he is sick. Did they announce "the part of ..... is being played today by ....."?

The one who originated Michael MacBain got into some trouble with the law. So they fired him. He has some problems to do with controlling his temper. And he got in to some trouble that had to do with people walking by. That is all i know.

the old michael is gone because the actor who played him got into some legal stuff so the show fired him and had him replace

I think this one is cuter tho' I am not sure why they changed him I will go and do some research on it and get back to you ok....edit.....ok there you go I found what you were looking for is you want the link just let me know ok

ABC has made the following statement regarding Nathaniel Marston's future with OLTL: "We are reviewing the matter internally, and until completion of this review we have taken him off the schedule."
One Life to Live's Nathaniel Marston, who plays Dr. Michael McBain ended up in Bellevue Hospital on Sunday, October 7 after allegedly attacking three people and brawling with city cops. According to the police report the incident took place in midtown New York at 45th Street and 10th Avenue. Police said the 6-foot-3 actor also appeared to be under the influence of narcotics, possibly cocaine. Marston, a former amateur boxer, assaulted his victims with a crate, which resulted in one of the victim's legs to be broken. As the officers tried to arrest him, Marston began flailing his arms and kicking at them.
Police charged Marston with two counts each of felony assault, reckless endangerment and criminal possession of a weapon as well as one count of resisting arrest. The officers who brought Marston into the hospital labeled him as an emotionally disturbed person. According to witness Salvatore Cabibbo, who was having cup of coffee, said he saw Marston hop out of a taxi and start to argue with the driver. The witness reported Marston then shouted, "I'm going to get you," while charging at Cabibbo and swinging a metal crate. The 46 year old Cabibbo stated, "He was crazed - I don't know the guy from a hole in the wall. I've never seen anything like that."
According to inside sources, Marston has been an emotional wreck recently, and the week prior to this incident there was supposedly some sort of big blowup on the set of OLTL, which may or may not be related to his behavior.
Back in 1999, Marston was arrested on criminal mischief charges after he punched and damaged an automated-teller machine in Manhattan.
The 32-year old actor was born in Sharon, Connecticut on July 9, 1975. In 2001, Marston was hired by OLTL to play the part of Al Holden, however in July 2003, Marston was suddenly fired, causing a huge protest amongst his fans. ABC received thousands of letters which eventually led ABC to rehire him in 2004, but in the new role of Dr. Michael McBain. (Which if fans remember is actually the reincarnation of Al Holden.)
According to Carolyn Hinsey, editor of SOW, this latest incident is not going to go over well with ABC this time. "He is definitely going to lose his job. They've given him chance after chance after chance." ABC has been informed of the situation with Marston, however there has been no official comment on the actor's status with the show.

In a nutshell, the old Michael (Nathaniel Marston) was arrested for causing a huge disturbance and fighting with the police - assault charges against him. ABC/OLTL fired him and hired this new Michael - I like the new Michael better....so far.

Because Nathaniel Marston was arrested for beating 3 people and a cop in a drug fueled rage. They have a morals policy and had to let him go.
