Question: Beauty is in the eye of the beholder! People watch what they find interesting, fishermen like watching fishing shows, golfers enjoy watching golf, handymen prefer how-to shows, cooks like cooking channels, etc.
Television can be a source for instruction as well as entertainment. Some people have their TVs on just as a distraction while doing boring chores around the house.
As long as TV doesn't run your life and turn you into the proverbial "couch potato" or isn't used as a babysitter then it is a useful tool for entertainment.
