Is the Gold Star on Kidnation real gold?!
Question: My household can not agree on this issue. I think the Gold Star is not real gold, but represents the $20000 check. My boyfriend thinks they actually hand out a two pound star of solid gold. So which is it, solid gold or solid symbolism?

I agree with you. I think the Gold Star is like an Oscar (the same one is used during the entire show) used as a symbol and when they get home they receive a check. You have to think it would be hard to find a person to melt it for you and make sure you get the right price for it.
(Besides if the price of gold plummets they're SOL)
