last I know, here in Los Angeles, it was canceled by Fox, but then a different network, (WB) picked it up, and started airing new episodes this or last season.
It is one of the top rated series on FOX and does awesome in the desired 18-49 demographic rating. Why would FOX cancel it?

No, it's the writers strike, which Seth is participating in.
Fox apparently intendeds to move forward with new episodes without him... but seeing as he is 3 of the main characters and scores of secondary characters.. they're going to be some crappy episodes.
