Question: does anyone know the name of the song in the new gossip girl that aired on 11/29. it is the thanksgiving one and its the song playing at the end. i think its by Vanessa Carlton.

The last song is by Vanessa Carlton. Its called "Nolita Fairytale" and its the first track off of her new CD "Heroes and Thieves."
A very introspective and autobiographical song. Apparently after the success of her "Be Not Nobody" CD in 2002 featuring "A Thousand Mile," her 2004 follow-up CD "Harmonium" was less than a smashing success and her label released her.
Basically, the song is about getting her freedom as a singer with the loss of that record deal. Or as the song says (in the bit played on Gossip Girl) "I used to hover outside my truth always worried about what I'd lose. Take away my deal. Go on I don't need it. I spent the last two years getting to what's real and now I can see so clear." Sort of fits the part of the episode in which it was played in which the main characters are getting to their own truths and discarding the distractions of the past twelve months.
