I think it is more like she doesnt know how to be treated nicely. The only other man that was good to her was Kevin, and it scares her.
She is used to being treated like dirt, and doesnt expect anything more.
Unfortunatly it happens to abused people, (not all) but they either abuse themselves, others, or go back into another abusive relationship.
Also I know Eastenders is just a soap opera, but sometimes eastenders etc do hit on key issues and make people aware of it. Which is a good thing. Self harm was brought into the public and media eye in a big way after hollyoaks showed it.
coz the writers like having such a miserable old cow on the show (nobodies allowed any happiness, haven't you noticed?)
because she likes to appear strong an independant, and she likes people to think she is a man eater!! but secrety she is afraid of getting hurt again!! dont think she ever properly got over kevin!!

I think she secretley likes him but is putting the barriers up because maybe something happened to her in her past and she doesnt want it to happen again. I think we will find out something about her which will explain it all.......
