Moonlight taking a break after Ep09. True or False?!

Question: I heard that Moonlight is taking a break due to the Writers' Strike and will resume on 14th December. Is this true? How many episodes are left for the Season?

The reason it is not on next week is that most shows (even in a normal, non-strike year) go on hiatus in December and early January. It is after November sweeps, before February sweeps, and people watch less television over the holidays, so they prefer to save some of their new episodes for better times.

According to tv.com (which is usually a reliable source), the next episode, Sleeping Beauty, will air on December 14th.

December 7th has a tv special called "Movies Rock: A celebration of music and film" airing in Moonlight's spot. Thus, it isn't anything against Moonlight or anything to do with the strike in the show not airing on the 7th.

With the writers' strike, schedules are even more up in the air, but I've heard that they managed to film 12 episodes (of the 13 ordered in the initial order) for Moonlight and Fleur de Lis was only the ninth one, so that would mean that there are 3 more to see.

After the one on the 14th, they will do one of two things, most likely. If the writers' strike is not resolved soon (they are in talks, so it could end!), then they will probably hold off on the last couple of episodes until February sweeps, because the more new episodes airing in that critical time, the better. If the writers' strike does end quickly, then the episodes will probably be aired at the end of January in preparation for the rest of the new episodes during sweeps, like in a normal year.

If the strike does end, then CBS has to decide whether to pick up the "back 9" to make a full season order of 22. If they don't, then the season (and most likely series) will end at episode 13. I would think that they would pick up the second half of the season, however, as it is doing really well in the coveted 24-32 year old demo, which CBS often has a problem with. Plus, CBS already dealt with cult show fans when they canceled Jericho, so they might be more wary about canceling another cult show like Moonlight.

Hopefully the writers' strike will end shortly and CBS will order the back 9 of Moonlight and then renew it for next year. That would give us the most number of new episodes this year and guarantee a decent viewing schedule. *crosses fingers*

I did a little research, and what I found is that it looks like Moonlight has 3, possibly 4 more episodes. I saw 3 more titled episodes. Yes, it looks like episode 10 does not aire til Dec. 14. I'm going to go through withdraw! It's a great series! Hope they'll come back for another season or two or three....!!!

I don't know if it's the writer's strike that has slowed them down or just scheduling for the winter/Christmas season. There is some Grammy-related show playing next friday and a movie the week after, so maybe it's just a time filler until newer episodes are made.
I too am going through withdraw. It's such a great show.

I really don't know, they didn't shwo new previews though. It could be the writers strike or they could still be trying to decide to pick up the show.
