monty python, its absolutley hillarious but you need to be a bit mental to understand it i'm afraid. very well written and acted out, how the hell they kept a straight face i dont know! the parrot sketch is an absolute classic, and as for the films - pure masterpieces!
benny hill was all sight gags more or less, a lot of it revolving around sexual inuendo, which was quite apt as he is renowned as a bit of a pervert, used to buy the mens porn mags every week from his local news agents according to a documentary i saw on him. i always thought out of mainstream comedy (saturday night stuff) the two ronnies were funnier than benny hill but monty takes the top prize for me.
Benny Hill, just cause I find a raunchy humor a little funnier. Monty Python was funny too, but i just have more appreciation for tongue n cheek humor!
I'll take Benny Hill.I love the slapstick humor. Monty Python looks down it's nose too much.
Monty Python !! I LOVE the movies (Holy Grail, Life of Brian) and the tv shows were just as funny (Spam !)

Benny was fast pace and he kept the punches rolling. Never a dull moment when I was watching the Benny Hill Show.
To a lover of comedy this is difficult to give a definitive answer. Benny was a brilliant individual comic who wrote all his own sketches.Monty python were a collective group of university educated guys who all contributed ideas from the ridiculous to the sublime.
Python. Benny Hill was always a bit to 'dirty old man' like for me. Python was still sexist, but really the women had nothing to do with the programme, they were stooges. Benny Hills women were like sea side post cards of women.
I really liked Bob Todd though. And Benny seemed like a really nice man in real life.
Monty Python 99.9% and the other 0.01% was the women chasing Benny Hill that's all that was worth watching.
Monty Python all the way. I remember when I was wee, watching Python on a Sunday night and even though I didn't understand some of the jokes, I knew it was head & shoulders above every other comedy show. It was so different and unusual back then, I don't think younger folk now can fully appreciate how ground breaking it was, and how it opened the doors for what is now 'alternative' comedy.
Benny Hill was just another sketch show, although like a lot of 70s shows, I'm a lot more inclined to defend it nowadays since it upsets all the PC brigade!
monty python because it was more relevant to the time. john cleese always makes me laugh. my favorite was the one with the dead parrot.
