    Are you talking about a Rorschach inkblot test?
    rorschach pictures (ink blots) are supposed to help trained professionals understand a person's psyche. there are lots of 'projective' tests that do this.

    a t.v. show didn't use real ones, I'm sure, because the cards are protected, meaning they shouldn't be shown to the general public. to that end, they are outrageously expensive.
