No and she is up front and honest about it. She will not give anything away that the manufacturer does not agree to give them for free............it has to do with the TON of publicity they get and the millions of orders that will come simply by O touting it on her show.
In fact I was looking at some of the sites on line last night and many I couln't get into, traffic was too heavy.
No show does, usually donated by the company for promotional purposes. Ellen does do a lot of giving away so she may eat a portion of that tab.
I am sure she pays something, but not all!! She is advertising for that product so surely she doesn't have to pay full price for everything that she gives away! But even if she does, it is a tax write off.

The companies who provide the give-aways use it as a marketing tool in order to have their names pronounced at this show. The interest raised is more than a commercial could provide them with. My question is whether the audience realizes that they must pay tax on the gifts?...
No. Oprah is filthy rich and I think that the network does! I think that her producers also help in that department. The items probably also get donated for publicity. Ya know, if its on Oprah then people will buy it!
It's most likely a cross between her and donations. They have major lawyers and such so you will never know for sure. But it is probably no different than they other talk shows. And, what I do know is she's a generous person....she sent her whole company to Hawaii....
no i think the product's company give them to her and she gives them away for advertizing thier product- they get tons more sales due to her viewers- definently NOT out of her pocket- giveaways from companies mostly.

JMDP is absolutely correct. Plus the receivers must pay a gift tax, some times this means selling a few items to pay for it. Although in the past few years Oprahs audiences seem to be made up of a wealthier class of people.Oprah herself has gotten snootier.

Any company would love to have a giveaway on her show... but SHE picks and chooses what who and when.....and ONLY if she likes it.
Now the show with the cars?? she really did give those away.
I am not sure why but Oprah has turned into this bigger then life freak now... I can't stand the show anymore.
She gets the things free from the manufactureres, who are
happy to give away their stuff, because it's a huge publicity
getter. You see the stuff on the show, you think, "Oprah
loves this, I'll try it." then you go buy it. It's like the book club,
she picks a book, then it sells like crazy.
