In Pushing Daisies why can Ned touch some people without killing them?!
Question: Can anyone explain to me why Ned can touch people like the angry swordsman in "The Fun in Funeral", the narcoleptic lady in "Pigeon", or go so far as to catch and kiss Olive Snook in "Girth" without killing them? Is this a continuity error or am I missing something?

He doesnt kill people when he touches them. If someone dies, he can touch them and bring them back to life, but only for 60 seconds otherwise someone else will die. Once he touches that person a second time, they die and cannot come back again. Olive for example was never dead, so he can touch her all he wants and she wont die. Chuck on the other hand, has been brought back to life by him, so if he touches her a second time she will die and be unable to come back.
Were they dead before he touched them? the only people he can't touch is the ones he brings back to life, unless he wants them to die again.
Ned can touch anything and anyone that has not perviously died. Olive is alive she hasn't died yet therefore he can toucher all you want.
He can touch Chuck or any other dead thing that he has brought back to live with gloves or some barrier just not with his bare had or flesh.
Remember the fruit Ned uses is dead fruit and when he tried to eat some of the pie Chuck's aunts gave him the fruit spoiled in his mouth.
When someone dies and he touches them, they come back to life. He has 60 seconds to touch them again and then they're dead again. If he doesn't touch them within the 60 seconds then someone else dies. If he touches the girl he's in love with, Chuck (Charlotte), she'll die cos he brought her back from death.
Watch some of the first episodes online. They open with an explanation of how the touching and dying thing works. Only people who died and were brought back to life by Ned's touch cannot be re-touched by him ever again, or they will die again permanently. Chuck died when someone tried to murder her. Ned brought her back to life with his touch, but if he touches her again, she dies forever.
